My AP is approved on 27th, but I did not receive it so far. I already booked my tickets and have only one day left for my travel.
Would it be safe to travel now? Are there any risks involved in doing so?

What does your online status say? Mine changed today and says the following:
Current Status: Approval notice sent.
On October 3, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT.
No idea what it means though. If you are a July 2nd filer, the above surely should not mean I am about to receive mine anytime now...Confused:confused:

Guys,
here's my thoughts on this; If her h1 gets stamped she doesn't need AP. however if H1 gets rejected for some reason, in that case she can stay back in India until I recieve the AP documents. I send it to her then she can travel back on AP. ??
Any Suggestions or gyan on this !!!

I dont think you will be able to do this, I am not sure but I think one should be present in US at the time of AP approval only then they can use that Advance parole to leave and re enter.
May be converting back to H4 and attend for visa as dependent is an option. Ask your lawyer.

Dear Friends
I have a big problem , my name is correct on passport, birthcertificate , H1 but my social security card has my name swapped. I never bothered to change all these years but I hear name check so I am worried.
Will my 1-485 case get stuck because of this
is it a good idea to change the name on SSN now.
Any suggestions.

Do you guys see what happens after January 2nd (or after 6 months of receipt date)....Most of the contractors (who applied their 485 in july) will look for permanent job OR demand more money from their employers...OR more benefits from employer. Employers try to be calm and don't conflict with us. What do u guys think??
Is it going to be tough for desi consultants to earn more money by placing their employees as consultants? Because there are already so many people ready to do permanent job.
As far as I know, IT department of most companies are cutting down on IT resources and trying to either outsource or have captive centers in low cost destinations. Given that trend, I doubt if more permanent openings are available.
However, I see a spike in "Programm manager" type job where an on-shore person manages a team of off-shore developers sitting in countries like India.
What say?

I think most of the HR folks may not know what is an EAD. So they may fear EAD is some kind of illegal thingie and deny job. It is best to just say I am authorized work in the US and no further explanation need to be given.
Today at Boeing interview event I got very good offer. The HR lady congratulated me, kept offer letter in my hand. Then I told her that I'm an EAD holder. All my fear came true, and she said a big sorry and said EAD is not acceptable at any cost. Also she said, she can keep the offer in hold for me for 5 months. How can I expect green card in hand in 5 months. GOD don't give this situation to any one. just trying to reduce my pain here...

Its been over 3 weeks since my wife have H4 interview and the passport is still under "admin processing". This week her AP came and I have mailed it to her and now we want to get the passport back and travel on AP.
Now if anyone knows or done the process of getting the passport back from Delhi Consulate, can they please explain?

She cant use her AP to reenter as her AP was approved when she was out of the country. So no use getting the passport back , the processof getting her passport back is wiritng to them that you are withdrawing your visa application but i would suggest not to do that as in your case AP would not her help for re enry.

Hi
I am trying to change my I140 regular to I140 premium by completing the I-907 form, so that it can be sent before July 2nd deadline. However, my employer is not willing to proceed as he has recently received an RFE on I140 for one of other employee; he is working on the necessary documentation for that RFE, At this juncture, he says that escalating my I140 would jeopardice the situation.
Still, I am still not convinced; I want him to push it. Will there be any issues for the organization or for me. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Please note prefiling allows one to file their 485 papers but will not get an EAD unless ur priority date becomes current.
Satya & OP. I agree with you. Point # 3 is very significant to many many people who don't have EAD. I believe that nothing also happened to the pre-filing concept which would have allowed this. I also do very sincerely appreciate IV's efforts for the larger cause of CIR, let�s see what happens.

You are missing the point! Those flowers aren't meant for them! It is to show our protest in a unique way that will attract attention from the media! Till date there are only 3 websites that I have come across that covers this fiasco... Don't you want our plight announced in the media???
It may not make a difference today... but it will definitely make a difference tomorrow if we keep it up. Let the public know more about this broken immigration system. Raise awareness about every pain that we go through!

Absolutely right, how otherwise do you explain that they issued card production for people with PD's in 2004, (Dates not current in June) on July 2nd and in an hour and then said the visas are unavailable.
NO FIFO whatsoever.
They just saved themselves by retracting the VB of JULY, or else they would have faced lawsuits, and investigation which would have shown all irregularities and fraud.
If they can't follow FIFO in issuing receipt notices, which is the first and most basic step, then we should not expect them to follow FIFO for the rest of the steps.

Couple of options
1. Don't file your I-485 till you return from India
2. Receipts notices usually depend on type of visa category(EB) and the center which will be processing your case
3. Your husband can have I-485 notice and still get H1 stamped in India
I got my H1 stamped even when I had AP and EAD
4. You have 90% chance of getting receipt before Oct if you are in EB2
5. For travelling you must have AP before Oct unless you have valid H1( < 6 years)
