Hello,
I am from India and currently visiting USA on B2 visa. I recently got a job with a very reputed firm in US and applied for an H1B but my application reached USCIS after the H1B quota was full.
I really want to work for my new employer and would like to know what other options do I have to obtain work permit in USA other than L1 Visa?

If it is a non profit research org or institute of higher education then H1 will not be counted towards quota. On the other hand if you have the credentials you can try for "O" VISA

Hi Experts,
My wife is on H4 visa and has started her MS in CS in Jan. She applied for her change of status to F1 visa on 15 th feb. As of today (17th March), her approval notice hasnt come and her H4 is expiring on 31st March. I am not even able to follow her case online on USCIS coz her return recipt number is not updated at all. This is quite common I have heard.
My question is, should we also apply for her H4 extension before 31st of this month so that in case her approval for F1 does not come before her H4 expires and in worst case it gets rejects, she still wont be out of status coz her H4 renewal application is in place or am i just being too paranoid and should just wait for her F1 to come??

Our problems cannot be solved by one party alone - whether they have the majority or not! There are too many interested (opposing) parties. It does not matter which party gets the control, unless we have bipartisanship on our issues. We, as the affected group needs to do everything we can to get the congressmen to reach across the aisle..........

Hello All,

Also, we were thinking of Mexico initially but changed our minds due to border issues/swine flu fears. Anyone done it through Mexico recently? Please share your experiences.

Thank you. I checked it out. My nephew (7yrs) also plans to come for 3 weeks with my in laws. He has never been to the US before, and his parents are not coming either. The site mentioned that parents visa papers also have to be attached, I am not sure what this means. (His parents have never applied for the visa)

Hi All,
Now I have some questions regarding the process after getting Visa. I have read threads about airlines and medical insurance on this forum.
I was wondering if someone can shed light on finally what is a good medical insurance to buy, my father is 65 and mom is 60 and both have health issues.
Please let me know which insurance to buy which will cover their international travel plus stay in US
Also, please let me know which airlines are good for parents. I am east coast. My parents will definitely need assistance and I am also looking for someway I can have some travel companion for them. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks a ton.

I have a offer from an employer and they say that they will be able to provide documentation for GC processing but will not be able to sponsor. What does that mean? Can i hire attorney for my GC processing(EB2) and pay the expenses by myself? What else would be required from the employer?

As Economy is bad,my employer couldnot place me in a project.So my employer is asking to convert from H1 to H4(by applying i-539) and once i get project can move back from H4 to H1, which will not come under seperate Quota as my H1 is already approved once.
Can i know is this safe to move from H1 to H4 and then back from H4 to H1 once i get project.Will there be any issues in converting H4 to H1.What are the chances of getting H1 back.
Please advice.Any suggestions is really appreciated.

All I know is I went for Special Registeration back in 2003 when it initially started and citizens of specific countries were required to go for that special registeration. The immigration officer stamped my I-94 and wrote a FIN# on my passport and I-94.
Last time I travelled out of US was back in May 2001 for couple of weeks.

:confused: I got very anxious when my co lawyer told me that I got a query from INS.

With my knowledge, I don't think your current salary should matter for the future employement. But it shouldn't be grossly differrent. One of my friend got his GC approved with H1B salary less than salary mentioned in I140. What I would like to say is not worry to about it much until your attorney says it is a problem.

Below is my situation;
Last project ended July 17 and am out of project since then and my last pay check was for the week of July 17. I was sent a termination letter and my employer said that he will not revoke my H1B and told me to transfer my H1B ASAP. I have been trying to do a H transfer from then on but no company is willing to do since I don't have a project and every one told to find a project first.
Finally I found a project but now employers are not willing to do a transfer saying that I don't have pay stubs for almost two and half months. A few employers are suggesting to file a new H1B.
What would be the best course of actions in my situation.
