Next time, Hillary Duff. Got to get the young 'uns while they are still impressionable. Or it might be fun to see her get laughed off stage.

Unless you've got admin rights on the server - which would let you muck around with the server's smb.conf file (I'm assuming this is a Linux or OS X box running Samba) - there's not a lot you can do.
If this is your personal machine - I don't think you can do much with Apple's GUI interface for this, but if you're fairly brave you can always muck around with smb.conf after thoroughly reading the documentation at samba.org. :D

It would be neat to mod that somehow with Sims 2. Make it feel like you're "in the game." Then again, your guests may start to think that you "have no life." ;)
That would be cool.
Or you can have stars up, give that feeling of living on another planet.

I think we'll see differences in capabilities, the 360 has a great general purpose processor with 3 cores and great graphics card, the PS3 has a good graphics card but the processor is what it shines.
360 games might look better but its possible PS3 games might have more stuff going on and or better physic models at the expense of lower resolutions and possibly less shader intensive graphic effects.
I mean really the hardware in these two is completely different and cell is quite an specialized architecture.
Maybe we should have this argument 2 years from now, right now X360 and PS3 have exact graphics (the difference is neglible unless looking hard for it side by side).
In any case, any console purchase should be based on what games it can run not console's performance.

Where on earth can I find them other than eBay? I need the following...
 display bezel
 backlight inverter board
aluminum access panel(the one on the bottom that you remove to take it apart)
 power cable
Obviously I'd be willing to purchase a parts iMac if the price were right and it had what I need.

I agree a PM is more suitable and reckon I'll buy one within 12 months but as a cheaper alternative the Mini makes a great stop-gap.
You don't have to go straight from a mini to a PM. What about an iMac if you need more power? :)

Calibrating your battery is just that. It will not improve battery life, it will only make you percentage more accurate.
Play with your settings, restore as new or take it in for a checkup. Those are your options.

The second example is really significantly front-focused, and is shot at f/2.8, so I don't think your focus and recompose technique is to blame (I'd expect a lot less change in focus using the slight focus and recompose you've used here).
Did you lock focus on the eyes and then recompose? Is it possible that you re-focused after you recomposed?
yeah, i can try to take notice of this next time, but i don't think i'm moving that significantly forwards and backwards or laterally, esp. as you pointed out, the recompose distance isn't all that much. nonetheless, i'll try to be more careful next time.
i had a similar problem with my nikon 50mm, inconsistent focus and hunting for focus, even after i locked it. Problem was, I thought i locked it, but i didn't check the settings on the camera iteself. I was set up for continuous focus instead of single focus, which accounted for the lens hunting and refocusing everytime i tried to compose a shot.
not sure if this helps, but once i did realize my error of not resetting the camera for what i was trying to do, the problem was gone.
i'm definitely on One Shot AF rather than AI Servo so that shouldn't be it, but i haven't not tried locking the focus. i'll give that a try, thanks!

A service bureau is way to expensive in the long run. I have over 25,000 slides of my Grandfather's to scan for a gallery show/book next year. Getting them pro-scanned would break the bank. I think I'll be buying a couple of dedicated slide scanners. I'm leaning towards Nikon's scanners - that digitalICE software is great.
