Since you went the clean install route, my guess would either be bad ram or a bad HD. I had an iMac that had all sorts of weird lock ups and other odd problems. Traced it down to the HD, replaced it, been fine since.
It's probably not a loose connection, but worth a shot, make sure everthing inside is connected fully, reseat the ram and such.

showed up at 8. not many in line. the one lady in the orange said that I couldn't get it because I wasn't the primary account name (even though the primary doesn't even use AT&T, it's my dad and he just gets the bill), so I called AT&T and they told apple that they had to sell me one because I am authorized on the account. Everything else went smoothly. I thought that the Starbucks Coffee and water were nice touches for those who had to wait forever outside. I ended up waiting about 1 hr which I didn't think was terrible.
however, I was angered at the fact that I brought my apple in-ear headphones in to get replaced because they stopped working after day 4 of having them (I didn't damage them) and they said, "we don't care about that right now...you'll have to come back after tomorrow." I understand that they are busy, but A) they sold me a faulty product that I want replaced B) I'm a valuable customer C) It's a huge inconvenience for me to return to Easton to take care of it.

A couple of potential issues with a second-hand G3 firstly, the G3's didn't have USB 2.0, that's only appeared on more recent iBooks (I think they started with the first generation of the G4 models). Secondly, unless you get your hands on one with AirPort already installed you're going to have to track down an older AirPort card, which Apple don't manufacture any more. You can get them from eBay but prices can get a little high. There are also some issues with certain G3 iBooks relating to the logic boards.
Personally, I think trying to get your hands on a G4 iBook with USB 2.0 might be a better bet. Either that, or let them keep yours and get them to get you a new one for Christmas. ;)

How do I give out these invites... I know people who would appreciate it....
I'm a premium subscriber so I am not sure if it works the same way for free account holders but when I open the client a little bar drops down at the top saying share Spotify with your friends or something similar. Click the link and it takes you to the relevant page.

I'm fairly sure they do nothing to the game UNLESS the game says it needs it. I know Perfect Dark only works (well you can do a few things without the expansion pack...) well with the pack. But thats the only game I know of that needs it... maybe LoZ:MM?
edit: Ok, it seems to be used to improve some games! :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expansion_Pak
Donkey Kong needed it because i remember it came bundled with that when i picked up back in the day... great game :)

I think the original demonstration in the video was at the TED conference (http://www.ted.com/) a year or two ago...whether these researchers were working on these ideas parallel to Apple or if they were later hired by Apple would be the interesting part, as this technology clearly has wider applications than just the iPhone.

I remember now - saw it in a documentary about So Cal homes and Steve wanting to tear this down.
Ugly anyways and I think he did them a favor...
Yea I agree. I don't know what the big deal is. It's really just an old house that a famousish person designed and another one lived in. Its like it was a frank lloyd wright or something.

My question for discussion would be: 1) would you consider buying a used LCD monitor off of ebay? 2) What new 19" LCD would you recommend in the $450 price range?
I've heard good reviews about the Dell 1905FP 19", which is going for around ~$300 on eBay. Froogle gives PointShop.com as the lowest at $383 (http://froogle.google.com/froogle_url?q=http://www.pointshop.com/Mall/Catalog/Product/ASP/engine/Froogle/product-id/782389/store-id/1000044893.html&fr=AB_gAT4s7plo8-aKXbksvDLeE_AAEU68rdnh_5QmTdDHAAAAAAAAAAA) .
Or you could spend $250 more and get an (open box) Apple 20" (http://www.techforless.com/cgi-bin/tech4less/M8893ZLL/A?mv_pc=froogle). :D

Well I am using it on my iBook (localhost) and it works great. When I tried to connect to the Windows machine at work I got the same error. I hope that they get this figured out. I really like it and would love a functional OS X version.

Interesting thing just happened today.
I installed ntfs-3g so I could write to my ntfs partitions and found that when I next tried to set the startup disk to mircosotf the partition was gone.
So I plugged in my eMac keyboard to use the option key start method and both disks were there but the bootcamp disk just hung. I have just now removed ntfs-3g and the partition is now back in the startup list so hopefully it's all back to normal.
Has anyone else seen this? bit of a bummer IMO

Yeah, seriously. Just keep your PC as well. You don't NEED to throw it out, although I wouldn't shed a tear if you did. ;)
For programs like MS Access, I can understand the need for VPC, but what graphics app is absolutely necessary on a PC? There must be a Mac equivalent. Oh, and VPC runs decently for everything other than graphics related apps (Photoshop or games).

When I click the search box in IE6, the submit button does highlight, but I can still type in the text field.
It might be the button:active declaration in the CSS that IE6 is hiccuping on.

Export to Quicktime presentation, install Quicktime on PCs.
edit: kayjprod beat me to it.
This method has a lot of drawbacks.
First, it generates huge files. All transitions are movies rather than a slide that is just rotated by a graphics program.
Second, You loose a lot of control over the presentation. Flipping back and forth between slides, cursor control, animation timing, etc.
Third, The final movie never looks as good for some reason. Maybe it is just a matter of changing parameters somewhere but my files are huge and my transitions, slides, fonts, etc. don't look as high res or clear.
I agree that Keynote needs a freely distributable player like PowerPoint has. This would allow you to send the condensed slide-only file to the OS X or Windows user and he or she would have the same control and effects over the presentation as in Keynote. QT just isn't the same as the PowerPoint freely distributed player on Windows.

What about the WWDC 2009 videos? They aren't up for sale anymore and they don't appear to be part of the free offerings for registered developers. Can anyone confirm whether or not the 2009 videos were added with the 2010 videos?
Who cares? WWDC 2009 videos are sooo last-year! :D

So is everyone gonna have to change their checkout page from "buy this song" to "license this song"?
So it will be interesting if the licencing allows the user to hold the content without a licence (just as a car can be held without having a driving licence).
This means that content could be distributed legally without the need of distributors. Then only when you listen to it do you require a licence to listen to it.
No copyright theft, just unlicenced use. So will the record industry attempt to become the sole licence issuer - you can bet on it..
Although that does not prevent the licence from stating that you cannot copy it etc. So what's interesting is - who is going to read the billion different licences that will now bombard the user? This is a change without the rules inplace to protect the public. This has now made the purchasing of music online unfeasable for the public user and you will have to buy through a provider because of the legal minefield.
That is *if* you have agreed to the licence. Is there a law requiring you to have a licence to listen to music? Not that I'm aware of... it would then fall on the music owner to prove on each case that you're an unlicenced individual and that they have to then show how much they'd loose in revenue to the judge... so the value (cost per track) is really low although you may end up with the legal fees..
Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
